Sky City Pueblo Tours

ATTENTION: The SP 22 road construction project began on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. T he 100-day construction will be completed on October 26, 2010.  SP 22, Katsiima Drive, starts at the Acoma Cultural Center, and continues to the Acoma-Laguna reservation boundary. During construction, SP 22 is closed at Exit 108 off I-40, and traffic is being diverted to Exit 102 off I-40.  Only emergency vehicles have access to road SP 22.

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO THE SKY CITY CULTURAL CENTER: Take Exit 102 off I-40, and turn right.  Follow the curved road to the stop sign. At the stop sign, turn right. Go approximately 5 miles, and turn left.  Travel the 11-mile scenic route to the Sky City Cultural Center.  Please call (800) 747-0181 if you have questions.

Our guided tours begin with a short ride to the top of the 367-foot-high sandstone mesa to the historic pueblo village of Sky City and home of the San Esteban del Rey Mission. Tribal Members lead the walking tours sharing Acoma’s unique Native American history and culture in the type of oral presentation that our people have been passing down for centuries. Considered one of the best cultural tours in New Mexico, Acoma Sky City ranks in the "top 10 great places to honor American Indian Life" --USA Today.

The tour is one hour and 25 minutes long and covers approximately three-quarters of a mile (note: there are areas of uneven/rough terrain). Local artisans sell their crafts during the tour. Most do not accept credit cards or checks, but we have an ATM machine onsite for your convenience.

Check in at the Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum's admissions desk to purchase tickets and camera permits.  Discounts available to Haak’u Museum Members or Friends of Sky City – simply show your membership card. Join Now
